The following is Blog number forty-nine and it is entitled: What Kind of God Would You Want?

WHAT KIND OF GOD WOULD YOU WANT?

[The following is taken from the book BECOME PERFECT 2007© and the “I” and “me” have been replaced with “we” and “our”]

“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise  from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold. I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.” (Luke 24:45-51 KJV)

"To know, in soul and spirit, that these accounts of Christ Jesus, as the only begotten Son of God, are real life “Gospel” leaves us in a state of total awe. The privilege to be His servant, to have experienced His visitation, to have audibly heard His voice, to know His presence causes a sense of personal responsibility beyond measure and description. Frankly, it leaves one with a certain measure of fear; as we imagine that it should!
But more than this, should this not also cause one to possess a desire for excellence in their own conduct in servitude unto their Lord? We believe Christ our Lord, as truth, and profoundly love the entire reality, as a matter of faith. For, this Spirit of “knowing” is presented to us as the gift of strong faith from our Lord Jesus Christ. Why would we not desire to walk, exactly as He walked, this plantation in honor and righteous service to His cause? Is this not the call? We are simply dumbfounded by those who just can’t get it, or who would not even want to get it. We love, with all that is within us those who are in unbelief. But for those who walk as so called “servants,” causing a taint on the Gospel, we pray the Lord either fix them or remove them from this charge.
In our judgment, the accounts of Christ throughout the New Testament are certainly aligned with those capabilities that should exist within God concepts and attributes. A “One True God,” having a Son, who can handle being crucified unto death on a cross; then go to hell for three days – come out of that grave and walk around with His friends for forty days, certainly exhibits the power that one wants from God. To have as an explanation that it was done, so that by believing it as truth and devoting one’s life to His continuing work, and in return become immortal – it’s a “no brainer” decision for us. What about you?
What would you expect from a “One True God?” What kind of God would you want? Love revealed as the sacrificial lamb, on our behalf, believing in us that we can achieve His Will for this life with His help, makes great sense to us. That He has such high expectations of us and that He will show us how to achieve them, now this is wonderful; this works for us!
Reasonableness, while we grow toward God’s expectations, reflected in His forgiveness of our sin when, we make terrible mistakes or have rebelled at times; that sounds like God! And it sounds like an incredible example of being a good Father too! Laughing at us when we do stuff that is just plain old stupid and even funny; we think that our God does just that, shaking His head in great wonder. Training us to do better with trials that to us are incredibly painful, and helping us to bear them with the knowledge of His presence. Endowing us with power to overcome in the darkness of this plantation!
By His Son’s obedience to a sinless life, an undeserved death, and a resurrection unto life Christ has overcome the world to give human beings the power to become perfect, and to be just like Him. This is the only type of God that we would want to serve or be associated with, and there is no other “god concept,” worthy like the LORD God, who sacrificed His only begotten Son for the human beings trapped on plantation earth.
The very instance that the human being says to Jesus Christ and means it in their spirit: “Yes I accept you as my Lord and my Savior forever” their spirit; their true self becomes perfect. For the rest of their life on this plantation their spirit, their true self: will wage war against their soul to force their physical body to do what is right in the sight of an Almighty God. This is the amazing journey of the human being who desires to serve the Lord. The beneficiary is the earth; yea, our temporary home but also mankind’s prison and plantation!
What a wonderful kind of God it is who constructs a plan of freedom on a terrestrial world; for His creation to be able to make their own choices. There is one choice in particular that produces an amazing result; this is the choice of faith and service. What is the benefit? One's spirit is again set free; one day it shall return to an eternal home beyond the captivity of this earth.
